Eric Schmit, DO

Eric Schmit, DO

  • Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconisn
  • Undergraduate training: UW-Milwaukee, BS Biology
  • Medical School: Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine

This is the biography of Eric John Schmit; however, it may be fictional in order to disguise his true identity... He was born and raised in Green Bay, WI and, yes, he is a Packers fan. In fact, he worked at all of the home Packers games while in high school selling merchandise: hats, t-shirts and jerseys. He is the eldest sibling of two brothers, two sisters and two dogs. He has an allergy to Kryptonite. Growing up, he only wore cowboy boots from ages 4-8. He was very involved in sports and outdoors, playing soccer, football, basketball, and golf. Later on he found a passion for more endurance sports, completing a triathlon and bike riding across Iowa (RAGBRAI). Since he could swing a hammer, he has been working with his dad on construction projects.

He started working in the medical field as a CNA in assisted living and the operating room during his undergraduate training at UW-Milwaukee. He attended Des Moines University for medical school. He has always had a special interest in surgery, but it was after his 3rd year OB/GYN clerkship at Aurora Green Bay when he realized his path. Now, he has returned to Aurora for residency! It is a very exciting time to be back in the city of Milwaukee as every season is packed with things he enjoys such as festivals, great nightlife, sports, arts, concerts, amazing and diverse food, and of course great beer.

Sara Stanenas, DO

Sara Stanenas DO
Chief Administrative Resident

  • Hometown: Brillion, Wisconsin
  • Undergraduate training: UW-Stevens Point, Biology and Chemistry
  • Medical School: Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Dr. Stanenas grew up on a hobby farm in small town WI with pigs, cows, and chickens. From a very young age, she developed a passion for teaching and often made her younger brother sit and listen to her lessons (to which she still credits his intelligence). She spent countless hours shadowing and volunteering in several nearby hospitals and participated in two medical mission trips while in college. During these experiences, she quickly realized that her love for teaching would serve as an asset in a career in medicine. She finds great satisfaction serving women of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. She chose Aurora Sinai for residency training for these specific reasons - the patient population and the faculty dedication to education and instilling knowledge and qualities required to be excellent OB/GYN physician in the clinic and operating room. She truly appreciates being a part of a compassionate, dedicated, and diverse team of residents, a group she considers family.  She has found Milwaukee to be a fun city to train in and play! She enjoys spending time by the lake, outdoor activities, concerts and festivals in the summertime and spending time with her husband and two kitties.

Michelle Osgood Montgomery, DO

Michelle Osgood Montgomery, DO

  • Hometown: Easton, Maine
  • Undergraduate Training: Husson University, Bangor, Maine
  • Medical School: Lincoln Memorial University--DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harrogate, Tennessee

Dr. Michelle Montgomery is a native of rural northern Maine. She grew up in a farming community where students were dismissed from school for three weeks in the fall to help with the potato harvest. Although she always dreamed of being a school teacher like her mom, Michelle's love for medicine began after attending a health career exploration camp hosted by her local hospital. Following this experience, Michelle set her sights on medical school. She worked as a CNA at a nursing home while in college and spent the following two years working as an Emergency Department Technician; both experiences helped to shape Michelle into the caregiver she is today. The field of obstetrics and gynecology provides a venue for her to advocate for women and to promote women's health care throughout all of life's stages. In her free time, Michelle, and her husband, Reed, look forward to exploring the great state of Wisconsin and to teaching everyone how to make the best baked "Maine" potato.
